Carys Phillips is a regular try scorer for Wales and crossed twice in the recent WXV tournamentWelsh hooker Carys Phillips has joined Harlequins Women following the recent demise of Worcester Warriors Women.
The former Wales captain was one of many internationals left without a club following Worcester’s unexpected withdrawal from all competitions. Phillips said he was “excited about the opportunity Quins have given me after the sad situation in Worcester”.
“I’m really looking forward to joining the team and playing rugby in London,” she added. Phillips was one of the first players signed professionally by Wales and is one of the most capped players in the current Wales squad.
Since his debut in the 2013 Six Nations, he has made 70 appearances to date.
She last played in Wales’ WXV1 season in New Zealand and is joined by teammate Abbie Fleming, who has joined the Quins ahead of the new Premiership women’s rugby season.
Harlequins forwards coach Steve Halsey has worked with Phillips before and is delighted to reunite.”We are very happy to sign a player of Carys’ quality and experience,” he said. “She will be a great addition to the team.”
