Jurgen Klopp believes Jarell Quansah will justify Liverpool’s decision not to sign a central defender this summer, as Ibrahima Konate’s early exit from the Europa League explained. Quansah has emerged as an emerging star for the Reds this season after being in the Academy since the age of five.

Quansah was joined at centre-back by Konate, one of three players replaced just 11 minutes into the second half, shortly after Mohamed Salah’s penalty had given Liverpool a three-goal lead.And Klopp said: “We took him off and it was a medical decision, no risk: 50 minutes, but not too much.”
