The Detroit Lions’ momentum came to an abrupt halt in the first half of Sunday’s game against the New Orleans Saints when Frank Ragnau left the game injured.
The setback was officially diagnosed as a knee injury, and Ragnow did not return to the game. In his absence, the Lions moved Colby Sorsdal to right guard and Graham Glasgow replaced Ragnow at center.
After the game, which the Lions won 33-28, Dan Campbell gave an update on Ragnow’s progress.
“It’s nothing. We won’t know until tomorrow,” Campbell explained.
“At first it sounded like one thing, but then it sounded a little different.
One didn’t sound too good and one sounded better. So I guess we won’t find out until tomorrow.”
Campbell said the second update was the most encouraging, but did not specify what each update was. Ragnow dealt with other injuries throughout the season and worked out occasionally to rest his body.
The Lions’ offensive line has suffered numerous injuries throughout the season.
Jonah Jackson returned Sunday after missing five of the last six games, while Halapuliwati Vaitai remained on injured reserve.
As a result, players like Sorsdal and Kayode Awosika were forced to play bigger roles at key moments. Glasgow, in particular, has been instrumental to the Lions’ success on the offensive line.
He started the season as a backup, but has started all but two games this year. During this period, he started at centre, right and left back.
