According to a report from The Sun, youngster Caylan Vickers is attracting interest from Championship clubs Norwich City and Leicester City, as well as Spanish giants Real Madrid.
Reading would have hoped to secure a top six place this season to be able to return to League Two immediately. However, things have not gone to plan as the Royals sit 23rd with just five wins from their opening 19 games.
During this time, they were able to give younger players a chance in the first team, with Vickers surprisingly standing out alongside Ruben Selles. But the strong performances are also attracting interest from elsewhere.
The Sun reports that Norwich City and Leicester City are keeping an eye on the 18-year-old striker, but it appears Real Madrid are in pole position to snap up the player, who could be available for as little as £1m.”
A Dream Move”While playing time could be an asset for Vickers if he secures a move to the Bernabeu, it represents a huge opportunity for the youngster to make his way through the academy system and potentially play for the biggest team in the world. Both Leicester City and Norwich City would likely gain more playing minutes on the pitch.
If a move to Real Madrid is secured, a loan move could be on the cards to gain playing time.
Something the championship pair could explore if they see it as part of their immediate plans.
Despite Reading’s problems in League One, £1 million could go a long way in securing deals for some players, increasing the possibility of putting some distance between them and the bottom three.
