Former Ipswich Town star Luke Hyam believes Blues boss Kieran McKenna will convince his players that the game against Norwich City is just a game and that they need to play as they have done so far.
Ipswich are top of the table after their win over Watford and face Norwich City in the East Anglian derby next weekend.
The Tractor Boys have not felt joy against Norwich since victory at Portman Road in 2009 and McKenna’s side will be determined to improve on that record on Saturday.
Hyam, who has played in several East Anglian derbies during his career, believes the Ipswich manager will force them to treat the game against Norwich like just another match.
The former Blues star believes Ipswich will prepare for Saturday’s match in the same way they prepared for the previous match and believes their aim will be to do what they have done so far this season.
“They’ll act like it’s just another game, I guess,” Hyam told Tractor Social. “They will come in and think: I know it’s a derby, but let’s keep doing what we’ve done well in the previous games and do exactly the same preparation.“I’m sure Kieran McKenna will literally attack them like it’s another match.
I know it’s obviously a little spicier, but it’s just a different game and we’re only three points away from promotion. “Ipswich have won four games in a row and hope to extend their winning run to five games by beating Norwich in front of their home crowd.
