Former Tennessee safety announces commitment to Ole Miss

There will be no rest when it comes to recruiting this offseason for Ole Miss Rebels coaches Lane Kiffin and Pete Golding.
The Rebels picked up their seventh transfer commitment from the portal cycle Saturday afternoon when former Tennessee Volunteers safety Tamarion Mc Donald announced his commitment to Ole Miss via social media. Mc Donald’s announcement can be viewed here.
The former three-star recruit’s announcement comes less than 24 hours after the Rebels secured a commitment from the No. 3 player in the portal, former Florida Gators tackle Princely Umanmielen.
The Rebels are in the process of rejuvenating their second line team, as McDonald is the fourth defenseman recruited to date.
The Memphis, Tennessee native will be a welcome addition to Golding’s defense as the former Vol has totaled 95 tackles, 7.5 tackles for loss, one sack, three interceptions, ten pass breakups and one fumble recovery in his last two seasons.
In four years at Tennessee, McDonald recorded 115 tackles, 8.5 TFL, one sack, four interceptions, 12 pass breakups and one fumble recovery.
McDonald showed tremendous versatility at safety and special teams for the Vols, serving at Tennesse’s STAR position, meaning he was a hybrid safety who could also play outside linebacker—think Ladarius Tennison.
According to the On3 rankings, McDonald was rated as the No. 1 player. 16 in the state of Tennessee and the No. 43 safety in the 2020 recruiting cycle.
The Rebels have dominated the portal since it opened a week ago and have thus far recruited the No. 1 transfer class. 3 in the country, according to On3.Copyright ABG-SI LLC.
