Leeds United goalkeeper Karl Darlow may be ruled out for months if he requires surgery on his dislocated thumb, according to Dr Rajpal Brar.
The injury expert claims that once an MRI test is done, the significance of the injury will be revealed and the next course of action can be decided then.
Daniel Farke issued a best-case verdict on the summer signing and said that he’ll be out of training for the next seven weeks.
Speaking exclusively to MOT Leeds News, Brar, a specialist in Physical Therapy and Sports Scientist, said about Darlow:
“The process will be instilling proper mobility and strength into the thumb.
“Surgery will depend on the significance of the injury based on the MRI.
“In that case, the surgery would repair the damaged tendon/ligament and rehab would be a longer process and would see him even missing months.”
The 33-year-old started in goal against West Brom in the final game of 2023 and picked up his injury after that game.
When he joined, it looked like he would be the first choice, but Illan Meslier’s performances ensured he remained the number one.
However, with the Frenchman being suspended, Kristoffer Klaesson has deputised in goal as the third choice keeper.
