Daniel Farke has two bits of ‘good news’ to tell Leeds United fans
Daniel Farke spoke to the media today ahead of Sunday’s clash between Leeds United and Preston North End and says he has both Sam Byram and Liam Cooper to pick from, ahead of the weekend.
Byram, 30, was part of the side that beat Cardiff City last time out – coming on for the last five minutes of the impressive away win. He has been in and out of the side recently, picking up a few injuries.
He went off against Plymouth, and then at Blackburn with issues. Since then, he has remained fit for the last three league games – but Junior Firpo has started the last two. Liam Cooper was missing at Cardiff.
But Farke confirmed in his press conference – as per the club’s YouTube – that captain Cooper is fit again and has been in training for the last two sessions. It is unclear if he will be able to last 90 minutes.
It was even better news in regards to Byram, with Farke saying that the versatile full-back has been in training all week and is good to go. It will be interesting to see who Farke picks in defence on Sunday.
“Good news with Sam Byram, he is in training for a week. Fully available. Good news for Liam Cooper, back in full training for two sessions. We will have to see if enough for 90 minutes, good to have him.”

Cooper will be desperate to remain fit for the last few months, not only to help Leeds get promoted again – but also, because it is likely to be his last spell at Leeds. He’s unlikely to get a new contract.
Byram, too, is in a similar position. He is also out of contract but there are no signs either way if he gets a new deal, or doesn’t. He has made it clear he would love to sign a new contract at Elland Road soon.
