Elliot Myles signs first professional contract
Norwich City Academy forward Elliot Myles has signed his first professional contract with the club.
“I feel overwhelmed,” Myles said. “It’s good to be rated by the club and how highly they think of me. I appreciate everything they’ve done for me so far.
“I’m always grateful for the opportunity. There’s things that you can’t take for granted, especially at a club like this. Especially as I’ve been here since I was 14, with all the chances they’ve given me. That shows the trust and belief they have in me.
Myles has been a regular for the Under-18s so far this season, and has made a number of appearances for the Under-21s.
The 17-year-old has also represented England and Wales at youth level, with Myles saying he’s pleased with his performances this season.
“I feel like I’ve started off well. I feel like I’ve progressed this season, playing with the Under-21s. I think quicker now, with challenges in each game. I scored my first goal for the Under-21s against Charlton recently, and there’s more to come.
“Playing internationally has given me a variety of different styles. The difference between playing in a league here compared to an international game is big. It’s good to experience those games.”
As a forward player, Myles highlights Jonathan Rowe as a source of inspiration within the Norwich squad, and has set his sights on a starting spot in the Under-21s side.
“I’d probably say Jonny Rowe. He’s one of the most recent ones, and he’s a player with a similar style to me. He’s proven that anything is possible.
“This season, I’d love to become a regular starter for the Under-21s, but it’s all about progressing. I’d also love to train with the first-team, too.”
