The Philadelphia Eagles have a new linebackers coach. The cynic will say, “Now the Eagles just need linebackers.”First and foremost: the coach.
That job reportedly goes to Bobby King, according to ESPN. King is a former inside linebackers coach for the Tennessee Titans and is expected to fill the same role in Philadelphia.
It’s not as big of a name as, say, Joe Barry or Mike Caldwell, a couple of prospects the Eagles were interested in, but on the other hand, it’s a job that comes with a lot of uncertainty. The Eagles don’t exactly have a full cupboard at that position.
Nakobe Dean is all we can count on at this point. Maybe even Ben VanbSumeren, after the undrafted rookie saw some defensive snaps late in the year after gaining much of his experience on special teams.

He said he would spend his offseason rehab training in Philadelphia.“I’m not going anywhere,” he said at the end of the season about staying in the area.
Dean wants to be at the forefront of the Eagles’ minds and now even wants the chance to build early chemistry with King. “They (the Eagles) know who I am,” Dean said. “If they don’t, I’m going to help (they remember) this season.”
General manager Howie Roseman supported Dean when he met with the media in January. 24.“I have a lot of confidence, and I know coach (Nick Sirianni) does too, in Nakobe Dean,” Roseman said. “I believe in the player.
I believe in the person.” Four of the Eagles’ linebackers are free agents: Zach Cunningham, Nichola Morrow, Shaun Bradley and Shaq Leonard.
Of the four, Cunningham may have a chance to return based on Roseman’s comments. “Honestly, if you watch the tape, [LB] Zach Cunningham had a good year,” the general manager said. “He really did it. He had a mentality that we like for this position.
Shane Steichen As for King, most of his previous coaching experience was at linebackers. he replaced D.J. Eliot, who was only on Sirianni’s team for a year.
