To make matters worse for Lions fans, a critical 49ers conversion during the game likely gave them unwanted flashbacks to some of Detroit’s fourth-down failures in the NFC Championship Game.
Down 13-10 early in the fourth quarter, the 49ers decided to go for it on fourth-and-3 from Kansas City’s 15-yard line rather than tie the game. The decision paid off as the Niners converted the play and ultimately capped the game with a touchdown.

“Looking back, it’s easy. I understand. I understand that, but I don’t regret those decisions, and it’s hard,” Campbell said. “It’s hard because we couldn’t get through it and it couldn’t work, but I couldn’t.
And I understand the criticism I get, it’s part of the job, but it just didn’t work.”Ultimately, things didn’t go well for the 49ers either, as they lost 25-22 to the Chiefs in overtime in Super Bowl 58.
