Tony Mowbray will be temporarily removed from the starting lineup for Birmingham City in order to undergo treatment for a medical condition.
The Blues have announced that Mowbray, who led the squad to consecutive wins against Blackburn Rovers and Sunderland last week, will take a six- to eight-week leave of absence. The Championship season comes to an end on May 4th when Norwich City visits.
In his absence, Mowbray’s sidekick Mark Venus will guide the team under the direction of coaches Pete Shuttleworth, Ashley Cole, and Maik Taylor.
After undergoing a recent LMA Health Assessment, Mowbray said, “I have been diagnosed with a medical condition that will need treatment.
I shall have to temporarily resign from my position as manager of Birmingham City Football Club in order to receive treatment.
My assistant manager, Mark Venus, will lead the team in the interim until I return, with assistance from coaches Ashley Cole, Pete Shuttleworth, and Maik Taylor. While receiving therapy, I will still offer guidance and recommendations.
