Former Birmingham City loanee who is ‘such a talent’ wants return to England

Former Birmingham City midfielder Ravel Morrison could be in line for a return to the Championship after he brought to an end his stint in MLS with DC United, where he’d been recruited by Wayne Rooney.
Morrison has played out an eclectic career to date and boasts a colourful CV which has taken him to Italy, Sweden, Mexico, the Netherlands and, more recently, the US.
A Manchester United trainee, Morrison was loaned to Blues from West Ham in 2012 as part of Lee Clark’s first summer transfer window. He scored three goals in 30 appearances, including one in the 4-0 victory at Crystal Palace over the Easter period of that season, but Morrison did return in the summer of 2017 when Harry Redknapp was in charge and was challenged with earning himself another contract, while a free agent, during a pre-season trial period.
“He’s such a talent. His ability is up there with the best there is around,” Redknapp said at the time. “I said to him yesterday: ‘Ravel, listen, there is only one mug in this country that will take a chance on you now and that is me’.
“I have taken him for a month on trial and said to him: ‘Come and show what you can do, earn yourself a contract, don’t waste all that fantastic ability, and prove to people that you can produce and behave’. He is not a bad lad. He is not a nasty boy in any shape or form.
He has been easily led by the wrong people, but he trained yesterday and some of the stuff he does is fantastic. I love watching him play.”
