The Buffalo Bills bolstered their offensive line on day three of the 2024 NFL Draft…
On the final day of the draft, Buffalo spent three of their seven picks on offensive lineman. The last selection, pick 221, was used on Travis Clayton. Clayton was not a traditional pick. The lineman came from the International Pathway Program instead of a traditional college. Clayton does not have much football experience, but he has all of the intangibles to eventually be a top tier lineman. Buffalo is hoping to strike gold the way that the Philadelphia Eagles did back in 2018 when they drafted Jordan Mailata from the same International Pathway Program.
Now on the Bills, here is what fans need to know about Clayto
Travis Clayton stands out in a crowd at 6-feet-7-inches and 303 pounds. He also stood out at his pro day for all of the right reasons.
In the 40-yard-dash, Clayton ran a 4.79 40-yard dash. That was faster than any time recorded at the NFL Combine by an offensive lineman in the past decade. Seeing his size and athleticism likely made him a late draft target for many teams in this year’s draft
Right before the draft, NFL Network’s Daniel Jeremiah named Clayton as a prospect with freak potential.
“I convinced myself that in the sixth round, this guy’s going to end up being an unbelievable player.”
Buffalo, of course, landed Clayton in Round 7.
Clayton was most recently playing rugby for the Basingstoke RFC Mens Rugby team. After being selected by Buffalo, the rugby team put a congratulatory message for Clayton.
Travis Clayton was at the draft to promote the International Pathway Program when the Bills selected him in the seventh round. Before that could take place, the Bills called him and told him that he was being selected in the draft.
The International Pathway Program Class of 2024 included 16 total players. The group came from eight different countries and participated in a 10 week training camp leading up to the draft. Before being part of the International Pathway Program, Clayton took part in the NFL Academy in 2019. Clayton’s knowledge of football is just beginning, but the promise is clearly there for the tackle prospect
