Hubert Davis and the UNC basketball program are still looking to add another big man, as their search has led them to this SEC transfer.
As we already know, the UNC basketball program has missed out on some of the top available big men in the transfer portal.
However, this hasn’t stopped Hubert Davis and company from continuing their search.
Listed at 6-foot-8, Lubin was featured as a center in Vanderbilt’s small lineup. After transferring from Notre Dame after his freshman season, the Orlando, Florida native went on to start all 26 games this season, averaging 12.3 points and 6.3 rebounds per contest.
He then entered the transfer portal once again on May 1, the final day that the portal was open for new additions.
Lubin’s versatility seems to be very enticing for the UNC basketball program, as he can fill in at the center or forward position.
He’s known to be a good rebounder and possesses a high level of athleticism, as he certainly could be a solid addition for the Tar Heels heading into the 2024-2025 season.
North Carolina could have an advantage in this recruitment, as they have some resources to work with. Lubin was teammates with former Tar Heel Cormac Ryan at Notre Dame, and played under the direction of former UNC basketball star Jerry Stackhouse last season at Vanderbilt.
It could be possible that one, or both, of the former Tar Heels are called in to help out in this recruiting battle.
The UNC basketball program is digging deep into the transfer portal and exploring every option to improve next year’s roster.
As they look to improve the front-court depth, expect the Tar Heels to show interest in various potential options to fill the remaining roster spots that are available.
