LAUDERDALE LAKES, Fla. (CBS12) — Former NFL player Alex Collins, who played for the Seattle Seahawks and the Baltimore Ravens, died from crashing into another car Sunday night, entering the other vehicle through the window.
Collins was on a 2004 Suzuki GSX-R600K going eastbound on West Oakland Park Boulevard. An unnamed female driver was driving westbound in a 2002 Chevrolet Suburban SUV on the same roadway when she attempted a left turn onto Northwest 33rd Avenue, a Broward Sheriff’s Office (BSO) news release said.
Collins reportedly struck the rear, passenger-side of the woman’s SUV. The impact caused him to go through the window and end up inside the Chevrolet.
He was pronounced dead at the scene, according to the news release.
The driver of the SUV stayed at the scene and cooperated with the investigation, which is still underway.
The Baltimore Ravens also offered condolences via X, the platform formerly known as Twitter. Head Coach John Harbaugh was quoted in the tweet.
