EW YORK – Lee Siegfried, a longtime radio personality who went by the character name Crazy Cabbie and was a regular guest of Howard Stern’s radio show, has died at the age of 55.
Cane Peterson, a fellow disc jockey who also had roots in Minnesota, announced Siegfried’s death Sunday evening on Facebook.
“Lee Siegfried … Crazy Cabbie, peacefully passed away with the love of his life, Lexi, by his side. He is no longer in pain,” Peterson posted. “Nobody did radio better than Cabbie, and everyone who knew him, loved him. He had a razor-sharp wit, an insatiable lust for life, and most importantly, a heart of gold.
In 2020, it was reported that the radio Siegfried, born Lee Anthony Mroszak, suffered from a rare nerve disorder that can result in paralysis, according to a posting from Starcasm.
Crazy Cabbie broadcast on New York’s 92.3 K-Rock (WXRK radio) and was a regular guest on Howard Stern’s show.
Siegfried got his start at two stations in Minneapolis, where he created the Crazy Cabbie character.
