Tottenham Hotspur will face Bayern Munich in their final pre-season tour of their Asian tour on Saturday.
Out of their opening four friendlies, Tottenham have been able to secure four wins against the variety of opposition.
Undoubtedly, Bayern are going to provide the most quality of the opposition played against all summer but there have been some good tests along the way.
And Ange Postecoglou has seen some of his players really come to the front over the last few weeks.
But there is one player who the Australian’s admitted has really shocked him this summer by how good he has been.
Ange Postecoglou wowed by Tottenham player who could have been sold
It would probably be fair to say the vast majority of the praise from this summer has gone towards the Tottenham youth prospects.
In particular, young Mikey Moore has received a lot of praise from Postecoglou and some of his teammates.
The likes of Jamie Donley and Archie Gray have also proven their worth across the four friendly games.
However, there have also been a few surprises and there’s one player who has really shocked Postecoglou this summer.
Speaking to football.london, Postecoglou has admitted what he has seen from Djed Spence so far has really impressed him.
“I think with Djed, for me we got him back into pre-season and we’re judging him on his merits. He’s a Tottenham player. To be fair to him, I think he’s been very, very good for us this pre-season, in terms of the way he’s trained and his general attitude,” said Postecoglou.
“But a lot of these things are in the players’ hands themselves. They kind of decide their own future in many respects and I think Djed is in that boat.
“I think there’s an opportunity for him here, for sure. Thinking about building a squad, he would be definitely somebody who could [contribute] with the attributes he has.”
“As you see right now, he’s been very good pre-season, he’s been very good on the tour. He’s impressed all the coaches, not just myself. For some of them it’s the first time they’ve worked with him and they’ve all been really impressed with him,” the Australian added.
“Maybe he’s learned a couple of things over the last couple of years about himself and hopefully we can sort of bear the fruit of that.”
Will Tottenham still sell Djed Spence this summer?
Well, it does appear Tottenham are about to sell one of their right-backs over the coming weeks…
But that now looks unlikely to be Spence with AC Milan in talks with Spurs over a potential move for Emerson Royal.
