Aston Villa player returns to the club for ‘medical assessment’ alongside Ollie Watkins
Aston Villa have a packed fixture list coming up when the pretty unpopular and unnecessary international break concludes.
Unfortunately, for Unai Emery, at the wrong time, a fair few Aston Villa players are injured or have knocks that need further assessment.
Ollie Watkins pulled out of England’s squad and has now returned to the club to be assessed, with the team taking on Everton next Saturday.
Then Villa’s Champions League adventure begins, before Premier League, League Cup and the European games continue.
Watkins started Villa’s win at Leicester, but just like the previous two matches, he only lasted an hour, before being subbed off for super-sub, Jhon Duran.
Another player who missed out on the trip to the King Power Stadium was the returning winger, Jaden Philogene, with Emery sharing that he was touch and go for the match.
The Villa Academy product was called up for England’s U21 squad ahead of their European Championship qualifying fixtures against Northern Ireland and Austria.
But Henry Winter has shared on Twitter that Philogene has headed back home, as it seems everything isn’t 100%.
Villa fans will be hoping it’s nothing too serious because Emery is going to need every inch of quality from his squad in these coming months.

“Matthew Cox (Brentford), Tom Fellows (West Brom) and Jonathan Rowe (Marseille) called into #ENG U21s,” wrote Winter.
“Harvey Elliott (Liverpool), Omari Hutchinson (Ipswich), Jaden Philogene (Aston Villa) and Sam Tickle (Wigan Athletic) have returned to their clubs “for further medical assessment”. Adam Wharton is also out, having remained with Palace “on medical advice”.

It’s not even the end of September and you worry that the injury list is already piling up for Emery.
Leon Bailey went off in the first half against Leicester, with Philiogene already absent, alongside Diego Carlos and Matty Cash.
The great news is that Tyrone Mings is back training with Villa and it won’t be too long before fans also get to see Boubacar Kamara.
Added to that, Emi Buendia played his first competitive game in over a year on Tuesday night, as the Villa U21s beat Fleetwood, with the Argentine netting a brace.
