LAS VEGAS (KLAS) — Two are dead following a northeast valley crash involving an unlicensed teen on Saturday, according to police.
On Sept. 21, around 4:30 p.m., the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department responded to the report of the two-vehicle crash on north Lamb Boulevard near Kell Lane.
Police said an SUV, driven by a 16-year-old, was traveling at a high rate of speed headed north on Lamb Boulevard when it struck the driver’s side of a car making a turn onto Lamb.
The Clark County Coroner’s office identified one of the victims as 54-year-old Miguel Romero. The identity of the 67-year-old driver of the Nissan has not been released at this time.
Samantha Martin was walking her dog onIt wasn’t the first time she responded to a crash in that area.
“I’ve been here about two years and in that time, there have been about 10 accidents this was from another drunk driver,” she said.
A damaged sign is a stark reminder of the dangers of valley roads. The sign near where the crash happened has been sitting damaged since it was hit by a drunk driver last October. Saturday afternoon when she heard the crash.
“We looked over to the other car to make sure no one was in there and that’s when we saw people feeling the pulses of the two males that were in the car and they said right away that there was no pulse, so we didn’t even want to get close,” Martin explained.

“It scares you and it makes you not want to be on the road unless it is completely necessary,” she said. She told 8 News Now that she would like to see a traffic light at the intersection but for many, it is already too late.
Candles were left at the scene for the two lives lost in the crash. It is unclear at this time what the unlicensed teen driver will be charged with.
An 11-year-old boy was a passenger inside the SUV with the 16-year-old. Both were taken to a nearby hospital and later released, police said.
These deaths mark the 109th and 110th traffic-related fatalities in the Metro’s jurisdiction for the year 2024.
