New Update on Celtics’ Jaylen Brown After One Missed Game

The Cavaliers currently hold the No. 1 seed in the East and enter the game riding a seven-game winning streak, the longest active streak in the NBA.

Meanwhile, the Celtics sit just behind in second place and will be looking to bounce back after a disappointing blowout loss to the Detroit Pistons on Wednesday night—despite Jayson Tatum’s 27-point performance.

Boston was without star forward Jaylen Brown against Detroit after he was ruled out due to a left thigh contusion.

The Celtics’ latest injury report on Thursday listed Brown as questionable, and his participation in shootaround on Friday morning suggests he may be ready to return.

Per Zack Cox of the Boston Herald, Brown was on the court Friday morning.

“Lot of extra on-court work this morning for Jaylen Brown, who missed Wednesday’s loss to Detroit with a thigh contusion,” Cox wrote, sharing photos of Brown. “Listed as questionable for tonight.”

Brown’s potential return is a huge boost for the defending champions, who clearly missed his presence in their previous game. The reigning Finals MVP has been a key contributor this season, averaging 22.9 points, 6.1 rebounds, and 4.7 assists while shooting 46.4% from the field (via StatMuse).

The Celtics are 2-1 against Cleveland this season, and will look to win the season series on Friday. A win would help them close the gap to just 5.5 games behind Cleveland for the No. 1 seed in the East.
