Denver, CO — April 12, 2025 — In a moment that will be etched into franchise history, the Colorado Avalanche have announced they will rename a section of Ball Arena in honor of Avalanche legend Adam Foote, paying tribute to one of the most respected and enduring figures in team history.
The newly designated “Foote Stand” will be officially unveiled during a special pre-game ceremony next season, marking a monumental recognition of Foote’s lasting impact on the Avalanche organization and the city of Denver.

A key piece of the Avalanche’s two Stanley Cup victories in 1996 and 2001, Foote was known as a fearless, shutdown defenseman who brought grit, physicality, and veteran leadership to the blue line for over a decade. He played over 1,100 NHL games, the vast majority in burgundy and blue, and later served the franchise as an assistant coach, continuing to shape the next generation of Avalanche stars.
The Foote Stand will feature a permanent display chronicling his career, including memorabilia, video highlights, and interactive fan experiences.
