Coaching Change
On March 30, 2025, RB Leipzig announced the dismissal of head coach Marco Rose and his entire coaching staff, along with the head of first-team football, Frank Aehlig.
Despite achieving two UEFA Champions League qualifications, a DFB-Pokal win, and a Supercup victory under Rose, the club’s managing director for sport, Marcel Schäfer, cited the need for new impetus due to ongoing unsatisfactory results.
Former Bayern Munich assistant coach Zsolt Löw has been appointed as the new head coach until the end of the 2024/25 season.
Löw, who has extensive coaching experience, aims to achieve the club’s goals in the remaining games of the season, including reaching the DFB-Pokal final and maximizing Bundesliga results.
Player Acquisition
In January 2025, RB Leipzig confirmed the permanent transfer of Dutch international midfielder Xavi Simons from Paris Saint-Germain. The deal, valued at over 50 million euros with significant add-ons, runs until 2027.
Simons, who had been on an 18-month loan at Leipzig, made 60 appearances and scored 15 goals during his loan spell, contributing to Leipzig’s German Super Cup win in 2023.
