least two people were killed in a crash reported just after midnight early Wednesday morning in the town of Apple Valley.

At approximately 12:01 a.m., on April 9, 2025, firefighters with the Apple Valley Fire Protection District were dispatched to a traffic collision initially reported near Navajo Road and Waalew Road.

However, arriving crews determined the crash had occurred along Central Road, near a curve south of Waalew Road.

Preliminary information indicates the crash occurred along Central Road, where a dark-colored Dodge Charger was traveling northbound and, for unknown reasons, left the roadway near a curve.

The vehicle traveled through a desert field, struck a wooden utility pole, and eventually came to rest near Walpi Road, west of Central Road and south of Waalew Road.

American Medical Response (AMR) and Medic Engine 332 responded to the scene but were later canceled after deputies with the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department confirmed at least two fatalities.

Firefighters returned to the scene around 5:00 a.m. to extricate at least one occupant from the vehicle. Southern California Edison crews also responded to repair the damaged utility pole.

Although two fatalities were confirmed, it was not immediately known if there were additional occupants inside the vehicle at the time of the crash.

Central Road was temporarily closed in the area where the crash occurred as deputies conducted an investigation.

The cause of the crash remains under investigation by the Apple Valley Sheriff’s Station.

The identities of the deceased will be released pending notification of next of kin.
