Missing Sentimental Surfboard – Please Help Return It

On Thursday, May 23rd, during the early afternoon hours, a very special board went missing on Highway 12 just before the bridge to Hatteras, North Carolina. The board was briefly set down with plans to return for it within minutes, but before its owner could retrieve it, it had been picked up—likely by someone with good intentions who didn’t realize how much this board means to its owner.

This isn’t just any surfboard. It carries more sentimental value than money could ever measure. It’s ridden thousands of waves, crossed countless beaches, and holds memories etched into every ding, wax stain, and sun-faded stripe. It’s been a companion through calm seas and stormy sets—ridden not just for sport, but for solace, healing, and joy. For its owner, it’s not just a board; it’s a piece of their story.

The stretch of road where it was lost—just before the bridge leading to Hatteras—is a beautiful but breezy area, and it’s entirely possible someone picked it up thinking it had been forgotten or discarded. If that person was you, please know: it wasn’t lost on purpose. It was coming back home. And now, someone is heartbroken at its absence.

We know how strong and kind the Outer Banks community is, and we’re reaching out with hope that this message finds the right person. If you or someone you know picked up a board in that area around that time, please consider returning it. No questions asked. No judgment. Just a deep and heartfelt thanks.

If you have any information, or if you are the one who found the board, please message me. Getting it back would mean the world.

Thank you for reading and for helping bring this treasured piece of someone’s life back home.
