Maritime Museum at Southport announces March events
SOUTHPORT, N.C. (WECT) – The Maritime Museum at Southport has announced its programming planned for March.
On March 2, Skipper’s Crew: Funny Bunny will feature hands-on activities and crafts combining arts and history.
The lights will be dimmed and interactives will be muted for the first two hours to give a calmer environment for people with sensory sensitivities. The event runs from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. and is free to attend, though donations are appreciated.
On March 16 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., Deep Dive into History: “U.S. Merchant Marines in World War II” will feature museum manager John Moseley.
He will be teaching about the history of Operation Drumbeat on its anniversary, covering the sinking of John D Gill, and the Liberty and Victory ships built at the NC Ship Building Company during World War II.
The event is part of a free Deep Dive into History drop-in series and is free to attend. No registration is needed; you can learn more online here or by calling (910) 477-5151.
Then on March 19 at noon, Third Tuesday: “Charles Towne on the Cape Fear” will be held. The lecture presentation will be at the Southport Community Building at 223 E.
Bay Street. The lecture series is geared for ages 16 and up.
