The Philadelphia Eagles have shown to be one of the top teams in the NFL by targeting a specific player and acquiring him through free agency.
After the retirement of defensive tackle Fletcher Cox yesterday, the team decided to add to their defensive line by signing former New York Jets defensive end Bryce Huff to a contract.
The deal is for three years and worth $51.1 million. This deal will also make Huff the highest-paid non-QB undrafted free agent in NFL history.
He had an outstanding 2023 season with the Jets as he led the team with 10 sacks on the year as well as adding 21 quarterback hits and a pass deflection to go with his career-high 29 tackles.
This is going to be a big loss for the Jets but they have a strong defensive line that could absorb the loss a bit better than most teams.
For the Philadelphia Eagles, this just adds to the defensive line and allows the team to put more pressure on the quarterback without having to send a full-out blitz.
What else will the Philadelphia Eagles do this free agency?
While they have already signed one of the better pass-rushers in the free agent class, the Philadelphia Eagles decided to also add running back Saquon Barkley to the team on the offensive side of the field. However, it has been reported that just because the team has made those two signings does not mean they are done.
They also may need to sign a center to replace Jason Kelce if they decide to get one with experience instead of drafting one in April.
