Milwaukee Brewers Minor League Recap 4/5/2024: Cooper Pratt Shines, Biloxi Shuckers Walk-Off Victory, And Wade Miley Rehab Appearance
Milwaukee Brewers minor league affiliates had some incredible performances on Friday, April 5. This was Opening Day for all levels Double-A and lower whereas Triple-A started a day after the big leagues got going. Here we take a look at some of the top performances.
19 year old Cooper Pratt had a three hit performance including a clutch at-bat in the ninth inning.
In last year’s draft high school shortstop Cooper Pratt fell to the sixth round and the Brewers paid well over slot value in order to pry him away from playing collegiate baseball. He is starting the 2024 season off with the Carolina Mudcats and on Opening Day he collected three base knocks including a double, triple, one walk, and two runs batted in. During the ninth inning he was up to bat, his team trailing by a run, was in a full count, and he delivered a game tying hit to send the game into extra in which the Mudcats went on to win by a score of 6-4.
The Biloxi Shuckers played a wild game that ended with an epic comeback and walk-off base hit.
With Jacob Misiorowski on the mound for Opening Day (4.1 IP, 4 ER, 7K), the Shuckers unfortunately found themselves down by a score of 7-2 at one point in this game. They mounted a comeback, in large part due to a defensive miscue by, but ended up winning the game via a walk-off base hit from Ernesto Martinez. Biloxi has now had walk-off victories in back-to-back seasons.
Milwaukee Brewers pitcher Wade Miley made a rehab appearance in Triple-A.
Wade Miley, who is a bit banged up with some shoulder and groin issues to begin the year, made a rehab appearance with the Nashville Sounds on Friday. The southpaw threw 55 pitches, covered three innings, allowed two hits, walked two, and gave up one earned run. It’s unclear if he will remain in Triple-A still or report to the Brewers.
