Due to a knee injury sustained during PSV Eindhoven’s training, American defender Sergiño Dest may not be able to participate for his country in the Copa América.
Gregg Berhalter, the U.S. coach, regularly starts the 23-year-old outside defender.
“During Saturday’s training session, Sergio Dest appears to have suffered a serious knee injury,” PSV stated in a statement on Sunday. The duration of the winger’s injury is still being looked at. It is nearly a given that it will last for a long time.
In August, Dest was loaned to PSV by Barcelona for the duration of the season. In 25 league games and 37 total games, he has scored two goals.
