After moving on from Kenny Payne, the Louisville Cardinals were viewed as having the biggest job opening in college basketball
Notable names like Scot Drew, Will Wade, and even Richard Pitino were thrown out for the opening, but they ended up going in a different direction. Former Winthrop and Charleston head coach Pat Kelsey was the hire, and for fans who weren’t familiar with his unique personality, they are certainly being treated to some great clips as he was introduced on Friday.
While getting a tour of the facilities, Kelsey seemed a bit shocked to find out how big his office was, saying he thought it was a lounge room for the players.
His brand-new, and very large office will give him plenty of room to work on rebuilding a program that has gone 25-71 over the past three years. He will look to lead them to their first NCAA Tournament appearance since 2018-19.
