Liverpool got back to winning ways last night as Arne Slot’s side secured a 3-1 win away from home at the San Siro.
Arne Slot will have been slightly worried about how his side would react to suffering their first loss of the season last time out in the Premier League.
Liverpool silenced all their doubters with a dominant performance against AC Milan in the Champions League opener.
Goals from Virgil van Dijk, Ibrahim Konate and Dominik Szoboszlai saw the Reds pick up a 3-1 win.
Interestingly, it appears as if a different player caught the eyes of Jamie Carragher…
However, he was all smiles on work duty for CBS Sports Golazo last night as they covered Tuesday night’s Champions League action.
After witness Liverpool’s dominant performance, one player in particular caught his eye.
Speaking after the match, Jamie Carragher shared a few words on Ryan Gravenberch.
“I think this happens with every new manager at every new team. They come on and have an affect on a player who you maybe thought was not good enough or the last manager didn’t really like.
“And I think that player is Gravenberch in midfield. I think he looks a completely different player now under this manager than he did Jurgen Klopp, so that’s been a real plus for Liverpool.”
Ryan Gravenberch’s stats during Liverpool vs AC Milan
Ryan Gravenberch found himself lifting the Man of the Match award after his performance last night against AC Milan.
The Dutchman made seven interceptions, nine ball recoveries, won one tackle, won three duels, had a passing accuracy of 90% and had 57 touches.
This isn’t the first time that Gravenberch has received praise recently as Tim Sherwood stated that he’s been reinvented so far this season under Arne Slot.
You would have to say that Carragher is right. The midfielder struggled for consistency at times last season in the Premier League and wasn’t a guaranteed starter. Whereas now, he’s one of the first names on the teamsheet.
