Barcelona and PSG have enquired about Aston Villa player who Unai Emery signed in 2023
Aston Villa have made a terrific start to the Premier League season.
Unai Emery’s men reside in fifth place having won four of their opening seven games, conceding defeat on just one occasion.
Their productive start has been largely helped by one man in particular who has been receiving interest from some of Europe’s biggest powerhouses.
Jhon Duran received interest from Barcelona prior to signing new Aston Villa contract
TBR Football understands that prior to signing his new deal with Aston Villa, Jhon Duran was the subject of interest from some of Europe’s top clubs.
TBR is told that Barcelona, Paris Saint Germain and Bayern Munich all made enquiries about the Colombian.
Duran was available in the summer with Villa boss Unai Emery ready to move him on after several issues, including questions about his attitude in training.
However, Emery and Villa never had qualms about his talent – hence their insistence that they wanted around £50million to let him go.
TBR Football revealed Emery’s delight with Duran’s progress and that led to a new deal, but we can confirm that he penned his deal even though he was aware that the likes of Barca, PSG and Bayern all made their interest known.
Jhon Duran really pushing to start
Duran is really staking a claim to start for Aston Villa having netted six goals in 10 appearances so far this season.
Remarkably, the 20-year-old has started just one of those as he’s become a real super sub for Emery’s men.
Though, if he continues this form, surely Villa have to start him from the off, perhaps pairing him in a two-striker formation with Ollie Watkins.
Duran won’t want to sit on the bench much longer.
