Breaking News: Atlanta Falcons Head Coach Raheem Morris to Activate WR Darnell Mooney for Clash Against Raiders
ATLANTA, GA – In a positive turn of events for the Atlanta Falcons as they prepare for their crucial Monday Night Football matchup against the Las Vegas Raiders, head coach Raheem Morris has announced that wide receiver Darnell Mooney is expected to play despite a recent foot injury. After being limited in practice Thursday, Mooney returned to full participation on Friday and is trending in the right direction to suit up for the game.
Mooney’s potential return is a significant boost for the Falcons (6-7), who have struggled to maintain consistent offensive production this season. The wide receiver’s involvement in Monday’s game could play a pivotal role as the team seeks to improve their playoff standing.
Alongside Mooney, safety Jessie Bates III (shoulder) and tight end Charlie Woerner (wrist) were also full participants in practice Friday, providing a sigh of relief for Atlanta’s defense and special teams units.
However, the Falcons’ injury report isn’t all positive. Defensive tackle Ruke Orhorhoro (ankle) and defensive lineman Zach Harrison (Achilles) were once again limited in practice. Orhorhoro, who is currently on injured reserve, must be activated before he can return to the active roster. Linebacker Nate Landman and right guard Chris Lindstrom also received limited work, with both getting some rest amid load management concerns.
Atlanta was again without linebacker Troy Andersen (knee) and rookie wide receiver Casey Washington (concussion) in practice on Friday. Andersen, who played through knee issues in the loss to Minnesota, has been battling the injury all season. Washington, who suffered a concussion in the Week 11 loss to the Denver Broncos, did not suit up against the Vikings and remains in the league’s concussion protocol.
The Falcons will face the struggling Raiders (2-11) at Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas at 8:30 p.m. ET on Monday night, with the team’s playoff hopes hanging in the balance.
