Laramie, WY – The University of Wyoming football program has secured a major boost to its offensive line with the addition of former Michigan Wolverines and BYU Cougars offensive lineman Andrew Gentry. Gentry, who has decided to transfer to Wyoming, brings a wealth of experience and size to the Cowboys’ front line.
Standing at 6’7″ and weighing 330 pounds, Gentry is a formidable presence in the trenches. He originally committed to Michigan as a highly touted recruit in the 2020 class before transferring to BYU, where he spent one season. Gentry’s decision to make another move to Wyoming comes after a year at BYU where he aimed to find the best fit for his future on the gridiron.
“I’m really excited for this new chapter in my career,” said Gentry. “I’ve had the chance to learn and grow at both Michigan and BYU, and now I’m ready to bring that experience to Wyoming. The coaching staff here has a great vision for the team, and I’m looking forward to contributing to the program’s success.”
The Cowboys’ offensive line had been a key focus for head coach Craig Bohl in the offseason, and Gentry’s addition will provide immediate depth and competition. Known for his physicality and strong blocking ability, Gentry is expected to compete for a starting role along Wyoming’s front.
“Andrew is a player with a tremendous amount of talent and experience,” said Bohl. “His background in the Big Ten and his time at BYU will help elevate the play of our offensive line. We’re thrilled to welcome him to Laramie.”
Gentry’s decision to transfer to Wyoming is a part of the growing trend of players seeking opportunities at different programs to maximize their playing time and development. As a former 4-star recruit, Gentry adds to the talent pool in Laramie and will be a player to watch in the coming season.
Wyoming is looking to build on its recent successes and take the next step toward competing at the top of the Mountain West Conference. Gentry’s addition could be key in strengthening the team’s offensive line as they prepare for the 2024 season.
