Aston Villa injury news and Nicolo Zaniolo update ahead of Legia Warsaw clash
Aston Villa have no fresh injury concerns for Thursday’s Europa Conference League group stage clash with Legia Warsaw.
Unai Emery welcomed Alex Moreno back to the matchday squad earlier this month, while Jacob Ramsey has also returned after also suffering a setback in his recovery from injury.
Moreno is yet to make an appearance for Villa this season despite being named in six squads, including the last three teams to face Nottingham Forest, AZ Alkmaar Fulham and Tottenham.
The left-back could feature for the first time this campaign on Thursday, while Ramsey could also feature after coming off the bench in Villa’s win over Spurs last time out. The 22-year-old returned to full training last week ahead of the Premier League clash in north London having recovered from a foot injury.
Meanwhile, Nicolo Zaniolo will be available to feature against Legia after overcoming the minor injury which ruled him out of the club’s win over Tottenham last weekend. The Italy international trained at Bodymoor Heath on Tuesday.
“We were training everybody more or less,” Emery said in his press conference. “We were feeling good. We are going to play a lot of matches, tomorrow, Sunday and next week more matches.
“We have to be very clinical how we can take the minutes with the players who are coming back after injuries. Some players they can feel a bit tired today after Sunday, but tomorrow we will meet and I am going to decide how we are. Today, every player trained well.”
Villa can secure their passage to the knockouts tomorrow night and take control of the group with a victory. Topping the group would allow Villa to qualify for the last 16, while a second-placed finish would set up a two-legged Europa Conference League knockout play-off against a team coming down from the Europa League.
