Phil Thompson says Liverpool’s £16million player is simply not getting the credit he deserves
Phil Thompson has urged Wataru Endo to get more credit following the midfielder’s crucial performance for Liverpool against Fulham.
The Japan international came off the bench to score his first goal for the Reds, making it 3-3 and giving Liverpool
the chance to take the crucial three points at Anfield.
Signed for £16 million from VfB Stuttgart this summer, the midfielder was a left-wing general for many Liverpool fans, despite Endo’s incredible reputation in Germany.
However, it has been a slow start to Premier League life for Endo, who has seen the majority of his minutes for the Reds come from the substitutes’ bench.
However, speaking to TalkSport, Liverpool legend Thompson has now suggested that the midfielder deserves more credit following his impressive performance for the Reds against Fulham.
Thompson said of the Japan international: “Endo scored a great goal. I don’t think he’ll get the recognition he deserves when he gets to that point. Wataru Endo showed what he can do for Liverpool against Fulham
Endo has had a somewhat disappointing career at Liverpool so far, but that could be about to change after the midfielder’s goal against Fulham.
Not only was the goal an outstanding performance, but it also showed that Endo has something to offer the Reds, even if early reviews of the Japanese star were far from positive.
In fact, Endo is a brilliant midfielder who could become a key part of Jurgen Klopp’s first-team plans in the years to come.
And this weekend could be the start of something wonderful for Endo, who could now benefit from more prominence after playing a huge role in helping Liverpool to a vital three points on Sunday.
