King is attracting interest from several rival clubs1377 It is uncertain whether hard-working Canterbury Bulldogs forward Max King will remain at the club beyond the end of 2024.
The Canterbury forward, who has been with the Bulldogs since the start of 2022 and has played all but one game in those two seasons, has quickly become one of the most important pieces of the puzzle for rookie coach Cameron Ciraldo.
This will only accelerate in 2024 after a series of off-season exits in the central third of Belmore’s side, including those of Tevita Pangai Junior and Luke Thompson.
King is now among the leaders of the Bulldogs’ forward pack after previous spells with the Gold Coast Titans and Melbourne Storm in which he failed to become a household name.
However, in 97 NRL games, King heads into 2024 with the opportunity to make a material impact on Canterbury’s campaign. However, according to a report from Wide World of Sports, there is a real chance that this will be his last season as a Bulldog.
King is currently one of the best front-rowers still available on the open market for the 2025 season. In an already tight market, a handful of players have already signed their contracts or found a new home.
Three clubs are believed to still be in King’s circle and reports suggest there could be a bidding war.“We’d like to keep Max – he’s a great boy and he’s done us a lot of good,” Bulldogs boss Phil Gould told the publication.
The striker is reportedly set to begin negotiations with the Bulldogs in the coming weeks but has already fielded inquiries from rival clubs over his future.
It is understood Canterbury management are hoping King can be persuaded to stay at Canterbury with the prospect of a long-term contract to tie him to the blue and white.
